Dance Attire
Ballet
Girls: Hair should be worn off the face in a bun secured with pins and hairnet. All students must wear pink ballet tights with feet and soft pink ballet shoes with elastic sewn over the instep. Pre-primary to Grade 5 and Inter. Foundation should have the leather with full sole, while Grades 6 - 8 may use the split sole slipper. Soft Pointe shoes, Pointe shoes, and Character shoes are required according to ballet level (see below) and must be brought into class at the beginning of class. Character skirts will be rented from PCDAA.
Pre-primary and Primary:
- pink cotton lycra bodysuit (short-sleeved)
- pink sheer skirt
Grade 1 and 2:
- light blue cotton lycra tank style bodysuit (sleeveless)
- black character skirt with blue ribbons and black character shoes
Grade 3-5:
- navy blue cotton lycra tank style bodysuit (sleeveless)
- black character skirt with blue ribbons and black character shoes
Grades 6-8:
- black cotton lycra tank style bodysuit (sleeveless) - style for exam to be decided later
- black character skirt with pink/blue/mulberry ribbons
- black character shoes
Intermediate Foundation - Advanced II
- navy or black cotton lycra tank style or spaghetti strap bodysuit
(style and color for exam students to be decided later)
- soft pointe shoes required for Intermediate and up
- pointe shoes with ribbons (and elastics as necessary) for all levels
Black ballet slippers for class (white for exams Grades 1 and up)
White or black tight fitting T-shirt or tank (white for exams)
White socks. Black bike shorts or leggings
Warm-up wear may be allowed for part of the barre work in the Advanced levels -.
teacher's discretion. No jewelry, watches, gum or candy allowed in class. Water bottles
must be brought in with you.
Pointe
When your child is at a ballet level where pointe shoes are required your instructor should be included in the selection and fit of shoes.
Tap/Jazz/Lyrical/Stetch/Hip Hop
Girls: Bodysuits or tight fitting tops (no baggy T-shirts!)Booty shorts (no long shorts or capris)
Bare legs with socks, or convertible tights (Note: If you have ballet class right ater, you must wear pink convertible tights rolled up for Tap or Jazz/Lyrical)
Jazz/Lyrical - beige slip-on jazz shoes
Tap - black or beige tap shoes with Teletone taps
Hair - secured back in ponytail (or in bun, if you have a ballet class right after)
Boys: Dark-colored shorts and T-shirt or beater, socks
Jazz/Lyrical - black slip-on jazz shoes
Tap - black tap shoes with Teletone taps
Inter/Senior Stretch
As for Jazz/Lyrical, except sweat pants, capris and warm tops may be worn overtop. Dress in layers that can be taken off.
Hip Hop
Shorts and top with clean running shoes.
